Choosing an aircraft interiors partner raises practical questions: which approvals do they hold, can they certify the modification as well as install it, how much downtime will the work need, and what documentation comes back with the parts? This page answers the questions airlines, lessors, MROs and private operators ask Cabinair Group most often, covering cabin design and refurbishment, seat overhaul, soft furnishings, on-wing repair, interior surveys, lease transitions and livery certification. About Cabinair Group
What does Cabinair Group do?
Cabinair Group is a UK-headquartered collective of aerospace companies specialising in aircraft cabin interiors: design and engineering, cabin refurbishment, manufacturing, maintenance and repair, seat overhaul, soft furnishings, lease transition support and livery certification. Founded in 2006 as Cabinair Services, the Group serves airlines, lessors, MROs and private operators from workshops in the UK and the USA, supported by design offices in Latvia, Sri Lanka and Italy.

Approvals and Compliance
What approvals and certifications does Cabinair Group hold?
Cabinair Group companies hold UK CAA and EASA Part 145 maintenance approvals (UK.145.01234), FAA FAR Part 145 (6CNY513C), Transport Canada, Part 21G production approval (UK.21G.2693), EASA Part 21J design organisation approval through AeroKnow SIA, UAE GCAA design approval and AS9100D quality certification. We are also a SATTO Approved Repair Centre. In practice, Part 145 lets us maintain and repair, Part 21G lets us manufacture certified parts, and Part 21J lets us design and certify modifications.
Can you design and certify aircraft modifications, not just install them?
Yes. Through our EASA Part 21J Design Organisation Approval we design and certify minor modifications and repairs for large and small aeroplanes and rotorcraft, then manufacture the parts under Part 21G and install them under Part 145. This single-supplier approach covers cabin reconfigurations, seat covers and curtains, curtain tracks, monument changes, special liveries and connectivity systems such as Starlink Aviation.

Furnishings and Seats
What soft furnishings and cabin components do you manufacture?
What are your lightweight crew rest mattresses and seat cushions?
Our mattresses use patented Octaspring technology, which gives three-dimensional support while using up to 31% less raw material than conventional foam. Weight savings of up to 150 g per economy seat and 800 g per business class seat can add up to around 32 tonnes per aircraft per year. We supplied 17 full sets of crew rest mattresses to Virgin Atlantic, and the first year of dry cleaning is included free of charge.
Do you sell aircraft seats?
Yes. Our Seats for Sale and Marketplace pages list serviceable passenger seats and other interior components available for purchase. Seats can be supplied as they are or fully overhauled and re-covered to your specification, with dual-release Form 1 certification.
Can you overhaul or re-cover our existing seats instead of replacing them?
Maintenance and Repair
What is on-wing cabin support?
On-wing support means our technicians repair and maintain the cabin on the aircraft at your base or maintenance location, rather than shipping parts to a workshop. We support operators at all major airports on a planned or unscheduled basis, covering seat repairs, plastic and composite repairs, sidewall lamination, carpet fitting, and galley and PSU repairs.
Do you offer AOG or emergency cabin support?
Which cabin components can you repair?
What is the SATTO® repair system?
SATTO Rapid Repair System for Plastics (SA20-21) is a patented, EASA-compliant system for repairing damaged cabin plastics and composites such as lavatories, overhead bins, tables and galleys, returning them in as-new condition with Form 1 release. Its repair-instead-of-replace approach cuts cost, lead time and waste compared with buying new parts. Cabinair Group is the sole non-airline SATTO Approved Repair Centre in the UK and Ireland, and early adopters include Air France, KLM and Gulf Air.
Do you offer interior panel lamination and refinishing?
Yes. We re-laminate sidewalls, ceiling panels, bulkheads and monuments with certified decorative laminates, and our dedicated paint facility, established in 2018, refinishes plastic and composite components. Lamination can be carried out in the workshop or on-wing, extending the life of existing panels for a fraction of replacement cost.
Leasing, surveys and livery
How do you support aircraft lease transitions and redeliveries?
What does an aircraft interior survey include?
An interior survey inspects seats, galleys, lavatories, monuments, carpets and sidewalls, verifies IFE, lighting and oxygen systems, and checks compliance with lease agreements and branding removal. Our EASA/FAA-certified team performs surveys worldwide and delivers a report with findings, photographs and recommended actions for airworthiness, passenger comfort and lease compliance.
What is exterior livery decal certification, and why does a special livery need it?
Any decal applied to an aircraft exterior must be shown not to affect airworthiness, which means engineering approval covering material qualification, flammability, adhesion, weight and placement relative to markings, sensors and access panels. Under our Part 21J design approval we produce that approval so a promotional or special livery can fly legally, as we did for the Tour de France livery on a Vueling aircraft.
Working with Cabinair Group
How do I request a quote?
Do you offer long-term cabin maintenance contracts?
Yes. We agree bespoke cabin service contracts with each operator, ranging from seat repairs to full provision of seats, carpets, galleys, curtains and PSUs, on both a planned and unscheduled basis. Our ongoing maintenance contract supporting TUI Airways’ Boeing 787 and 737 fleets is an example.
How does Cabinair Group approach sustainability?
Our core philosophy is repair instead of replace: overhauling seats and repairing plastics and panels with SATTO keeps components in service and out of landfill. Our Octaspring mattresses and cushions use up to 31% less raw material and reduce aircraft weight, lowering fuel burn, and all our repair materials comply with REACH.
